wireless Home Security Camera

Wireless cameras usually work by communicating with Wi-fi through your router. Some Wireless cameras come out with a power cord and some have built up batteries. Wireless cameras also use Bluetooth, but generally, this is just to communicate with your phone or tablet during setup.

The best thing about wireless home security cameras is where the Wi-fi provides an internet connection towards the cloud-based storage systems. When the camera starts to record, automatically the footage will be sent to the cloud.

Cloud storage also allows you to view live or recorded footage remotely on your smartphone, tablet, or computer from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection.

Since the wireless cameras depend on a wi-fi connection, you need to ensure that you have a strong wi-fi connection.  If you’re going to use multiple Wi-Fi cameras in your home, make sure you have a good router and a high-speed connection. If you don’t have a strong connection, your camera might face image distortion and it can go offline frequently.

The signal range depends on a few factors which include your home’s building materials, other wireless devices in the area, and any walls or objects through which the signal has to pass. Standard drywall and glass windows may not impact the strength of the camera’s wireless signal, but brick and concrete will.

If there are brick walls, concrete floors, and large trees in between the camera and receiver, your signal strength will likely weaken.

Wired security cameras usually being used for a larger property. These systems require cables for power, internet connection, and video transmission. How does it work?  Basically, there will be a cable that runs from the camera to the recorder, which then will connect to your router.

For the wired security cameras, there are two options for the power supply. It is either a separate power cord or one POE cable. POE or Power Over the Ethernet-enabled systems only require one cable which provides both power and internet connection. The main strength of wired security is reliability.

Wired security systems are not susceptible to interference from wireless signals due to the physical connections between the camera, recorder, and router.

The video above shows how to install a wired security camera.

That is why many people turn to installed wired home security cameras. Many homes or business owners with large properties want comprehensive coverage versus only monitoring select access points. So, they will often require more than four cameras in which case will need a wired system that can support and link all the cameras.

Somehow, when there is no electricity, the wired security cameras cannot function unless there is a backup generator.
