About Us

These words are being used a lot lately, and they can be confusing. Here, we give you a breakdown of what each of these terms and how they are being used in video surveillance:

The concept of artificial intelligence has been around for decades. The word "artificial" means "not natural; manmade" and "intelligence" means the ability to think or understand. AI is a technology that allows a machine, such as video surveillance system, to perform tasks that traditionally require human intelligence to execute. The goal of AI is to train technology to do things that human presently could do better.

AI is not a system in and of itself, it is something that is implemented in a system. To compare: you wouldn't say that inffrarred technology is a type of video surveillance system. Rather, infrared enables camera sensors to capture clear images in low-light conditions. So we can say that AI technology allows camera to improve video analytics by integrating data processing and image processing.

AI helps prevent information overload, especially in security systems that cover large facilities and have a lot of cameras. With AI, video data is constantly interpreted. Unusual objects or activity are brought to the security operator's attention. This enables the human staff to be an active participant in security while minimizing the need to view typical day-to-day activity.
